On the occasion of the World Mental Health Day, the Psychologist of the Center, Papadimas Panagiotis, explains how a person can have good Mental Health and what are the factors that can affext it:

Mental health is not just about the absence of a mental disorder. It is also related to the quality of life of the individual. Demonstrates a state of well-being, where the individual realize his/her abilities, can face the usual difficulties of life, is able to work productively and is able to offer to the community. Mental health describes a person’s ability to psycho-emotional and social adjustment, as determined by a number of criteria, such as the degree of development of cognitive functions, (how he interprets and understands the world around him), of social skills (interpersonal relationships, interest in others), of self-control (ability to manage one’s desires) and self-awareness (how one feels about oneself).

Factors that can affect mental health are a) organic and b)psychological, which refer to the personal experiences of the individual in his family and social environment.I

n order for a person to have good mental health, we would say that he needs to be functional and receive satisfaction from himself, from the important people around him and from the fulfillment of his obligations.
