Sources of Funds

The monthly cost of caring for a resident at Hara is approximately €2,000/month.  This cost includes constant supervision, bed & board, medical, psychiatric, psychological and therapeutic care, excursions and activities as well as the maintenance of our property plant and equipment.

Approximately half our €1.35m total operating income is provided by the National Health Service, EOPYY. Monthly entitlements provided by EOPYY are currently paid with a 3-month delay, tying up approximately €165,000 of our limited capital. Every additional month of delay would require us to provide and additional €55,000 to meet our financial obligations.

Private Donations from Individuals and Corporations are our second biggest source of funds. We need to raise approximately €320,000 in donations annually, through a combination of events such as our Christmas Bazaar dinners and lunches, Private and Corporate Donations and from Mazi Gia to Paidi, a nonprofit umbrella organization for vulnerable children. Raising this level of donations has proved an enormous challenge because of Covid-19.

Parents each pay fees totaling €450/month.  This is a significant sum for the families of our residents, the vast majority of whom are from low, and mid-low income brackets. We strive to continue to provide hardship support for parents that are unable to pay all or part of their monthly financial obligations.
