[:en]The Journey of Hope is a ship which sailed from Kuwait carrying a global humanitarian message for the benefit of the mentally challenged. The aim of the journey is to bring into light Kuwait’s contributions and advances in special needs care, bringing international awareness to the Country’s initiative as a whole.
Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait a sailing expedition began from Kuwait on the 1st of May 2014.
The origin of the idea was conceived by a group of parents with successful experiences dealing with their mentally disabled children of the categories of Down Syndrome, Autism, and other mental conditions since 2003. The group concluded that their message needed to be made worldwide and wish to crown their initiative with a global expedition.
In 2014 The “Journey of Hope “ visited 39 countries 19 ports
The “ Journey of Hope” arrived in Athens on the 31st of August at Alimos Port and will leave Athens on the 4th of September.
On the 2nd of September a cocktail reception at 7:00 p.m. – 9:00o.m. was held by the Embassy in their honour.
Spyros, Kostas and Iriana from the Center for Special Needs “Hara”, attended the event.[:el]Ο Σπύρος, ο Κώστας και η Ειρηάννα παρευρέθηκαν στην εκδήλωση με αφορμή την άφιξη, στις 31 Αυγούστου, στην Ελλάδα του πλοίου της κυβέρνησης του Κουβέιτ, που πραγματοποιεί το «Journey of Hope» (ταξίδι της ελπίδας), μεταφέροντας παιδιά με ειδικές ανάγκες, σύνδρομο Down (Ντάουν), αυτισμό κι άλλες νοητικές ασθένειες, διοργανώθηκε στις 2 Σεπτεμβρίου στη Μαρίνα Αλίμου.
Την εκδήλωση διοργάνωσε η πρεσβεία του Κουβέιτ και παρευρέθηκαν οι επίσημες Αρχές και αντιπρόσωποι των οργανισμών, που ασχολούνται με τα άτομα με ειδικές ανάγκες.
Το πλοίο «Ταξίδι της Ελπίδας» ξεκίνησε την 1η/05/2014 από το Κουβέιτ, υπό την αιγίδα του Εμίρη του κράτους, Σεΐχη Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-jaber Al Sabah, με σκοπό να ενημερώσει τις κοινωνίες των πόλεων που επισκέπτεται, για τα προβλήματα που αντιμετωπίζουν τα παιδιά με ειδικές ανάγκες και ο συντονισμός των προσπαθειών για την επίλυση των προβλημάτων τους και της ισότιμης ένταξής τους στην κοινωνία.
Το ταξίδι του πλοίου, που έχει προορισμό 20 χώρες και 39 λιμάνια σε όλο τον κόσμο, θα διαρκέσει 7 μήνες έως την έδρα των Special Olympics στην Ουάσιγκτον.[:]
